Supporting Empowered Women!!

This blog is for the ladies. The people who love the ladies. And the people who want to support the ladies.

I read a life changing book two years ago which has re-shaped my view on capitalism. The book's title is a profanity. I personally love this word and feel that it is negatively misused and sadly under-used. I also respect that many people will still have strong feelings towards this word, so I will censor it for these people (although, I hope for you to read this book and re-awaken your relationship with this word in a positive way).

The book is "C**t. A Declaration of Independence" by Inga Muscio (http://www.ingalagringa.com/) The uncensored version is on the website, please be aware when you follow the link if you are sensitive to the language.

There were a few ideas from this book which really changed my view of myself as woman, I will express some of my views in different posts. But the main change was my view towards my fellow sisters. Women. Child bearers. Lovers. Leaders. Lesbians. Those who identify as a woman. Wives. Sluts. All of us.

I realised that I was one of those women who hated other women. I looked down on fat girls, bitched about the skinny ones. Judged women for their choices about their family, their job, their lovers, their appearance, their taste in music, their age. I'm sure if you have a good think about it, you may even be guilty of a few of these. Inga's book really made me stop and think about what I was doing... and why! I made a pact with myself. I was going to love all women because we are stronger as a whole unit as long as we have each other's backs.

One of the areas that was most poignant for me was our own ability to look after ourselves financially. I am not as eloquent as Inga in her book so I hope you can all read it and learn first hand what I'm talking about.

Basically, this blog will be a list of hints and tips on how to be a self-sufficient power woman and a list of women-owned and run businesses where the benefits and profits from the business directly affect women in positive ways, to help themselves, their loved ones and their fellow women folk.

First, a few of my closest friends who are doing it for themselves and they are a great place to start spending your cash... help a fellow sister out!
